The
13th Annual Smith Rock Group "Spring Thing" Volunteer Day
Is Saturday, May 7, 2005
Spring
is coming to Smith Rock and it is time to do it again! Please
help be a part of the 13th Annual Smith Rock Spring Thing
volunteer day. This one day event focuses on restoration projects
to protect and enhance Smith Rock State Park and nearby public
lands. Projects include erosion control, trail improvement,
grass and tree planting, trash cleanup, climbing route cleaning
& chalk removal. At the end of the day we provide our volunteers
with a full dinner, slide show and a fun, fund-raising auction
and raffle. All money raised goes directly to fund future
events and purchase project supplies.
HOW YOU
CAN HELP
Please help make this year's Spring Thing a success by donating
items for the event, or the fundraising auction and raffle.
Your sponsorship is for a great cause and every dollar raised
goes directly back into projects in the park. As a contributor,
your company's name and logo will be included in all event
material, and of course, profusely thanked, featured, and
promoted as a sponsor. Please pledge your support by April
1 for inclusion in the distributed promotional posters.
WHERE
The Spring Thing takes place at Smith Rock State Park near
Terrebonne, Oregon. The park is located in the fragile high
desert of Central Oregon and is home to eagles, osprey, deer,
beaver, otter, mink, as well as rock climbers, hikers, mountain
bikers, birdwatchers, and nature lovers. The event begins
at 8 AM with registration at Smith Rock Park and concludes
with the dinner, auction, and raffle starting around 6 PM.
Parking passes, breakfast snacks, water, sunscreen, work gloves,
direction, tools and supplies, and dinner are provided for
all volunteers.

PLEASE
HELP MAKE OUR 13th YEAR A SUCCESS
We've had 12 great years of volunteers, supporters, and
park improvements. Thanks so much to the hundreds who have
over the years made this possible. Last year's event drew
nearly 150 volunteers who completed restoration work valued
by Park officials at $28,000, raised over $3,000 for future
projects, and had a great time doing it!
The
Smith Rock Spring Thing is organized and coordinated by
the Smith Rock Group, a grass roots, all-volunteer, non-profit
organization with 501(c)3 status, so all contributions are
tax deductible (tax exempt number 93-1140108). We are pleased
to work in cooperation with the Access Fund & the Oregon
State Park.
