Heinous Cling Area
Heinous Cling Area
This project is the construction of flat platforms at belay locations. Due to the steep hill sides and erosion over the years terraces will be constructed using dry stacked rock. Soil will be pulled back for the construction of the retaining wall. Rocks are stacked and onsite soil is filled in behind the rock and fabric. Wooden stair cases will also be installed. Native grasses and/or brush will be planted in area for rehabilitation.

Wartley’s Revenge Area
Wartley’s Revenge Area
This project will consist of the construction of flat platforms at belay locations. This work will occur between the climbing routes of Toe's of a Fisherman and Barbecue The Pope. Due to the steep hill sides and erosion over the years terraces will be constructed using dry stacked rock. Soil must be pulled back for construction of the retaining wall. Rocks are stacked and onsite soil is filled in behind the rock and fabric. Wooden stair cases will also be installed. Native grasses and/or brush will be planted in area for rehabilitation.
Aggro Gully
This project will consist of repairing the climbers access trail due to a rock slide last winter. A 1000 lb rock near the top of the gully slid down the hill due to loose soil, the steep hill side, a period of rain and freeze/thaw. The bottom part of the gully consists of reconstructed dry-stacked rock steps that were dislodged due to the rock fall. For the upper half of the gully the trail needs to be relocated. The location where the rock slide started is too steep and unstable for a trail. A new trail will be constructed about 100 feet east of the original trail. This is not a normal hiking trail. This is a trail designed and maintained for climbers. The trail will mostly be 12”-24” in width using natural rock as steps and utilizing the natural terrain as much as possible. The trail will use switch backs and rolling dips to reduce grade and prevent water erosion.
Boy Prophet Wall Area
This project is the construction of rock steps using flat rocks dry-stacked. The work will occur between the climbing routes of Deep Splash and Dreamin’. The area consists of loose soil next to the cliff. Approximately 50 feet of steps need to be constructed to finish this project.
Rope-De-Dope Area
This project will be the repair and replacement of existing steps. The work will occur on the east side of the “Rope-De-Dope Block”. Steps will be fixed to reduce trail widening. Native plants and grasses will also be planted.
Area between Phoenix and Asterisks Pass
This project will consist of blocking illegal trails and planting native grasses and shrubs. The work will occur between Combination Blocks and Phoenix Buttress. Closing trails will mostly consist of moving juniper branches to block worn areas. At some locations light digging will be required to reestablish the original/natural terrain. Planting of grasses and shrubs will also occur.

Trail from service road to bridge
Trail from service road to bridge
This project will consist of maintenance of existing trail. Water bars will be reconstructed along the service road and at switchbacks on the 4’ wide trail. Soil from waterbars will be excavated and placed back on trail. This work will be relocating soil on the trail surface which has moved due to erosion.
Trail from Northern Point to river
This project will consist of maintenance of existing trail. Water bars will be reconstructed along the service road and at switchbacks on the 3’ wide trail. Soil from waterbars will be excavated and placed back on trail. This work will be relocating soil on the trail surface which has moved due to erosion.
Trail cleaning and maintenance
All trails between the Shipwreck Wall and Asterisks Pass will be cleaned. The Misery Ridge Trail will also be cleaned. Most of the work will consist of shoveling loose soil, dirt and rocks off the existing grade. At some locations rocks (either retaining walls or steps) will need to be “reset” to become more stable.
Re-plant native plants in disturbed sites
Planting of Bunch Grass, Sage Brush, Rabbit Brush and Bitter Brush will be done at pre-determined sites throughout the work area. Planting will be done at sites to close or rehabilitate a trail and at rock retaining walls.
USFS Grasslands Skull Hollow Camp Ground
This project will consist of installation of fire rings and clean up trash in and around camping locations.
Pine Ridge
This is a site commonly used for paragliding, target shooting and garbage dumping. Trash will be cleaned up in the area.
