With temps in the high 50s-low 60s, it looked a lot like spring this President's Day weekend at Smith Rock. And it's not just the weather.

Parking lots overflowed, with arteries leading into the park also having a line of cars in every direction. Climbing in the Dihedrals looked like the height of spring season.

The Bivy campground parking lot started to fill up too.

Hiking out away from Misery Ridge Trail though, and you could still hear many more birds than people.

This is usually the case if you venture out more than a mile from the main canyon and River Trail.

These little guys didn't care--they found fun just a few feet away from their dad's car on one of the two climbing walls in the park.

With more people hearing about the beauty and unique area of Smith Rock State Park expect parking to continue to be an issue.

Stagger the times you come, and you're more likely to snag a spot just as the earlier visitor is just leaving.
